The Haines brothers are the five sons of Walter Haines, all of whom proudly served their country from World War II through the Korean conflict.

John was the oldest. He joined the U.S. Army when he was only 15 years old. He served over 13 years. He was stationed in Italy during WWII and was present at the hanging of Mussolini. He later became a Drill Instructor for the 11th Airborne Division training paratroopers for combat in Korea. His family did not see much of him during this time period, but they understood it was because his country needed him more.

The Haines brothers joined the service in the same order of their birth - John, Leo, Robert, Roy and then Bill. The four oldest brothers all served in WWII at the same time and all made it home safely.
